             Silas Rodrigues

Born into a musical family, Silas Rodrigues already sang and accompanied himself with the acoustic guitar when nine years old. His brother João Garoto, also an acclaimed acoustic guitar player, incentivated Silas to continue to develop his musical talents.

From an early age Silas frequented  “Rodas de Choro” ( this is normally an informal gathering of musicians who would meet up to play the specific Brazilian Choro style music) in the cities of Goiânia and Brasilia (both in Brazil), and had in these samba rhythms his initiation into his musical journey.

Chico Buarque, Caetano, Milton Nascimento and the Clube da Esquina  had definitive, and strong influence on his development of musical styles.

In Rio De Janeiro, after some years working as an instrumental musician, an arranger and divulging his compositions, he mounted the studio Arte Atual, which gave the possibility to expand his work as arranger and producer of singers and composers of varying musical styles.

He created the musical direction to the CD “Ideia Fixa”, participated in the song writing and the recording of the CD. This CD demonstrated his compositions and interpretations, and was accompanied by the voice of the Brazilian singer Myria Awada.  He also directed and participated in the shows presented for the CD’s release.

Silas presented, very successfully, a project entitled "Canção Presente"

( The Song Present) in which songs and music were composed and recorded on order from various clients. With more than 50 ‘presents’ created to attend the demand of diverse musical styles, there is a project developing to record some of these songs in a CD, with a prevision to release this CD next year.

He also performed in other states in Brazil such as São Paulo and Minas Gerais , gaining notary for the Multimedia Show "O Último Arco Iris" (The Last Rainbow) and for the well received show " Alma Feminina ", that pays homage to composers and muses that had inspired pearls of the MPB  -  Luiza, Doralice, Madalena, and others. During the presentation of this show in 95/96,  he composed the song "Alma Feminina"

Later this song became the reference point for the repertoire of the CD of the same name, that launched Silas once and for all onto the musical stage as one of the new exponents of the MPB sound.
